Looking for an orthodontist in Manama for your child? This guide introduces providers listed by their clinics and explains what to check before arranging an assessment. Choosing a clinician should depend on your child’s needs, the clinician’s current registration and a clear treatment discussion, rather than a promise of a perfect smile.
Editorial update: 9 October 2026. Written by Hossein Moradi. This is a service-information guide, not a clinical ranking or personalised medical advice. It has not been reviewed by an orthodontist. Khaleej Advisor does not provide the consultations or treatments described here.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial check-up no later than age seven, or when an orthodontic concern is first noticed. An assessment does not mean a child needs braces immediately. The specialist may recommend observation, treatment for a specific issue or a later review.
Early treatment is suitable for some problems, not every child. Claims that starting early always prevents surgery, reduces costs or shortens treatment should not be treated as guarantees. The clinician should explain the reason for the proposed timing and the alternatives for the individual child.
For routine oral-health services, see our guide to children’s dentists in Manama. A general dental visit and an orthodontic assessment serve different purposes; ask the treating professional which services your child needs.
The following entries are based on provider websites checked on 9 October 2026. They are presented without a quality ranking. A clinic listing confirms what that provider publishes; it does not independently establish clinical outcomes, current licensing or suitability for every child. Confirm the branch, the clinician’s availability and whether the practice accepts your child’s age group before booking.
Royal Bahrain Hospital’s profile lists Dr. Anup Varghese as a specialist in orthodontics and describes care for children and adults. It lists English and Hindi as his languages. Use the hospital’s own booking service to ask about an assessment, the treating branch and the cost of the first visit.
The KIMSHEALTH profile for Dr. Sam Thomas lists him as a specialist in orthodontics at the Umm Al Hassam medical center. The profile lists BDS and MDS qualifications, fixed and removable appliances, and clear aligner therapy. Contact KIMSHEALTH to confirm appointments for children and the appropriate branch.
The Al Hilal provider profile lists Dr. Rinkoo Jose as a specialist orthodontist with BDS and MDS qualifications. It identifies locations in Manama, Muharraq, Riffa and Salmabad. Branch schedules can change; confirm a Manama appointment directly through the provider before travelling.
Smile Studios’ current website lists Dr. Maria Isabel Fernandez as a specialist orthodontist. The clinic also publishes an orthodontic treatment article attributed to her. Ask the clinic which branch she attends, whether she sees children of your child’s age and what an initial consultation includes.
Changes to previous listings: Dr. Fatima Eltom and Dr. Harshad A. Ghorpade are not included in the current shortlist because their current practice location in Manama could not be confirmed from the provider sources checked. This is a limitation of our verification, not a judgement about their qualifications or care.
Direct provider links replace the previous booking and map links where the destination was incorrect or could not be confirmed. Obtain current telephone numbers and directions from the clinic’s official website.
The AAO explains how orthodontic braces work. Fixed appliances and removable aligners differ in their design and daily requirements. Suitability depends on the diagnosis and the child’s ability to follow the prescribed plan. A less visible appliance is not automatically the better option.
Ask the orthodontist which options are appropriate, why one is recommended and what the alternatives involve. The appliance brand alone does not establish a shorter treatment time or a better outcome. We have removed the previous general claim that self-ligating braces shorten treatment.
Bring relevant dental records if the clinic requests them, and prepare questions about timing, costs and alternatives. During treatment, follow the treating team’s instructions for cleaning, food choices and appliance wear. Contact the clinic about broken appliances or persistent discomfort rather than relying on an online guide for individual treatment advice.
For a broader view of local services, see our dental clinics guide for Bahrain. Confirm all prices directly; an article cannot establish your child’s final treatment cost.
We compared the named providers with official hospital and clinic pages and used AAO guidance for the general information about assessment timing. We did not test clinical services, inspect practices, verify individual licence numbers or obtain a specialist review. Provider biographies have been shortened to the details supported by the linked sources; unsupported awards, memberships, treatment guarantees and attributed quotations were removed.
